How Does This Work?

You have a site that you've nurtured over the years but your interests have moved elsewhere. You moderate an active message board forum but you just don't have the time to maintain it the way it deserves. Shut it down? No way! Give it up for adoption. That's what Site Adoptions is all about. There is nothing worse than a promising content site or community that goes away. This is the place where you can hand over the reins to a new owner -- that you pick -- for free.

Free?

Yes, absolutely free. If after listing your site and screening through the users you find the ideal foster parent for your established site, go for it. Close the project. Work out the finer details and we won't charge either party any fees at all. However, if money is actually exchanged for the site we will collect a modest 5% fee of the winning bid. It's that simple. Listings are always free -- though you can pay $10 to be one of the Featured Listings that will always appear at the top of the site. Featured Listings will also be free of the 5% charge if money is ultimately exchanged.

Where do I start?

Glad you asked. Towards the bottom of every page you will find the sign-up information. Sign up as a Site Owner. Sign up as a potential adopter. Yes, you can sign up as both. A verification email later and you're in. Post away. Bid away. Communicate with one another through each listing's free Private Message Board. It's that simple. You can list a site for as long as 90 days, and close it at any time once you have found the right person to take over or if you've had a change of heart. Because personal emails are not allowed to be exchanged -- all of the discussions take place on the Private Message Board -- once a project is closed and an Owner selects an Adopter both parties will receive emails with the contact information to close out the deal. It's just that easy.

Can I post ANY site or ANY domain?

This is NOT a domain name selling service. If you have a great domain without an existing site, please try eBay or Afternic. This is for existing sites, message boards and mailing lists only. And NO ADULT SITES. Sorry. This is a family-friendly site. If you see any violations to these rules, help us out and report violations. Also, if you have a cookie cutter site -- something as simple as redirecting to a vstore or affiliate program or a template with unoriginal content -- YES, you can put those up for adoption here. For now, at least. However, you must be specific in indicating as such. Don't misrepresent your site or the effort that it took to create your site.

Do you have an affiliate program?

No. Not yet. This is a free site for the most part, but check Referrals in the future in case we have added an affiliate marketing program for active referrals. In the meantime, help the site grow for the intrinsic feelgood buzz and little else.
